Daniel's Concert July 09

For the past 3 or 4 months, Daniel has been attending the Wasatch Music Coaching Academy down by Trolley Square. He started out with just once a week private lessons and then about a month ago he joined the Tuesday night band. Last Wednesday evening was their concert and Daniels first time with the band performing. They had it at a little venue that encouraged new bands and kids to put on concerts. The concert itself was amazing!! The music was much better then I thought it ever was. One of the more experienced bands even played some original music.

Here are the pics and video from that night.

Yes, I am WELL aware that I am not that great at pictures AND I need a video camera. I took the videos with my regular camera.

I love this guys Tshirt. NIGHT NIGHT SUCKA!

This girl was hilarious! Her facial expressions were priceless! Plus she had a sweet bass guitar that she played VERY well.
I watched the owner of this camera use it. I HEART this camera!!

DANIEL!!!

The kids playing on Daniels right is his best friend since 3rd grade, Evan. The girl that was singing was absolutely amazing! She was the perfect "angry rocker" singer!

Daniel was pretty nervous. I know you can't see his face well, but I can guarantee you he was so dang cool!! He is so relaxed on stage - even though he is nervous.
I am going to post the videos later. I can't seem to get it right. Grrrr.

Nerd Alert!!

I have had a locker at work for ...well....since I started there. I put a few things in it and probably didn't open it for a year. In the last while I have decided to do what we are suppose to do and change into hospital scrubs when we get there. This way, if I get unseemly, disgusting bodily fluids on me during patient care, I am able to change. It also clears the way for me to hop up to the OR if I need to accompany a balloon pump or something.

Anywhooo.....

The locker became a problem when it's disorganization caused an alarming fall out (literally, on the floor) when I opened it every morning. My little organizing mind started thinking of all the cute locker stuff they have for kids now. Then, on my last trip to a store I rarely go to and will not mention OR promote on this blog, they had all the locker organizer stuff on sale and I purchased a little bit of heaven for my poor messy locker.

I feel great just looking at it. What is all that?? I thought you'd never ask. There is my jeans, of course, that I wore to work. My CCRN book under my jeans. It's a great reference book when someone asks me a question that I have NO idea what the answer is. Plus, I may take the test someday. I have lotion, toothpaste and static guard in the back. My scrubs tend to stick to my compression socks and then I am mocked endlessly. The static guard helps, but then, I don't really care.

The top shelf has all my ACLS and Critical Care reference books. It also has some info on operating some of the machines we use and a cheat sheet I made for when I go to the OR with a balloon pump.

I will pause for a quick explanation: A "balloon" is med slang for an IABP, or Intra Aortic Balloon Pump. It is this long hot dog lookin balloon that is threaded up into your aorta to help augment the heart when your heart is shitty. In order for them (CT surgeons) to do that, they must have an SICU nurse in the OR to run the balloon. That in and of itself isn't too bad, especially once you do it a couple of times. It's all the assholes........errr...........opinions from the peanut gallery that get you flustered. I've had 4 people standing behind me telling me what to do before I can even see a full strip across the screen! Annoying. Thus..the cheat sheet. First, it tells me to never listen to the perfusionist and second, gives me timing hints. Amen.

Above the top shelf is an umbrella, a bag of bags and of course, some gas ex. The best of the best is the magnetic organizer on the door to keep my pens and drug reference book.

I am the biggest nerd I know...for being so cool!

Lake Powell, June 09

Whew!
It only took me a good week on the computer getting these pictures together! Once I had the ones I wanted and edited, I couldn't get them to download. Thankfully, that problem resolved itself and today I was successful!

There is actually about 4 blog posts to cover the whole trip. We had such a great time. Sami and Daniel left Monday morning early with most of my family. Jake, Matt and I along with my brother Mark showed up on Thursday morning. We had to work and Mark had to take a test for school.

Unfortunately we were unable to spend time with my brother, Brad and his family. They left just before we showed up on Thursday. They only had a few days at the beginning of the week to be there. We joined my mom and dad, Cari and Cody and their kids, Dylan, Alec, Emily and Matthew. Marks wife Christie was already there with their two kids Abby and Jack.

It was a great time. Although my activities were limited with my foot hurting, I read the first two books in the Twilight series while I was there. I had promised Sami I would read them and I did. I finished the last two within a couple of weeks.

There was a lot of time spent boating, tubing, wake boarding, fishing, playing games, reading and EATING!

Big thanks to my sister Cari and her husband Cody for letting us come spend time on their houseboat. Really big thanks to my dad for footing most of the cash for our food and gas!

Here is pics of Emily and Sami tubing. They loved it! I got these pics while I was standing on the houseboat watching. I try to avoid going on the boat when they are pulling the tubes, it makes me puke. Next time I will suck it up so I can get pics of Daniel too. Jake was prohibited from any shenanigans - with his knees and all.

Matt brought along his "tackle box" and a couple of poles and enjoyed some fishing off the back. I think just about everyone tried it. Jack LOVED running onto the back to see whatever fish anyone caught. He even touched one! One of the fish had the teeth of Jaws!! It's kinda creepy when you think about it!

RANDOM PICS!

Matt and Daniel on the back of the houseboat fishing.

Jack showing me his shells while supervising the fishing.
I was just hanging out with the boys, watching and reading.

Sami, texting. Does it ever end?

Daniel and the hair do I came up with to keep his hair out of his face. Looking really cool in Cody/Cari's boat. I can't wait until it's long enough we can just pull it back.

Matt chilin on the boat.

A small example of the foodstuff set out for one meal. We didn't starve, by any stretch of the imagination. It was delicious too!

Princess "always first in line" Sami. Daniel, I think he's annoyed there.

Model-esqe don't you think?

Fun pics with my family!!! Just before bed, hangin out!

Sami just after her bath. Weirdos! All of us.

Ohhh...he's a hottie!

Classic attitude!

Approved Cody Adventure.

My sister and her family love to go on "adventures" while in Lake Powell. They have seen some pretty great stuff and found some great hikes. My only experience on what they call a "Cody Adventure" turned into a Kathee Nightmare! But, with my giving spirit, I sent my kids and my husband on a second adventure to prove that they can be fun/safe. Turned out to be great fun and next time I'm going! (DAMN FOOT!!)

On the way.

All the grand kids that went, ran and jumped into this little spring. I guess it was cold and a little murky for the adults. (CHICKENS!! I say that because I wasn't there...hehe)
