Workin for running

I'm doing an overtime flight tonight. Good thing. I bought a new shirt and leg sleeves. It also means that I cant finish my weekend post. I can live with that. OT is sweet!
That new shirt easily went with a delightful outfit that I can't wait to wear!!

Real life and running

All this working has really effected my blogging!  Unacceptable!
Yesterday we didn't fly, so at 815pm, when my pilot's time out, I went for a run.  I don't have the details because my Garmin is in the on-duty apartment, but it was 4 miles in about 41 minutes.  I stayed on the main road here and was probably slowed down by all the traffic lights - but I wasn't sure how much daylight I had.  My first observation:

Wow these shoes and this light make me look tan!  I'm not much of a sun goddess and if I'm in the sun I'm rubbing at least 50SPF on myself.  All those fishing days paid off, even with 50SPF.  If I was in a swimsuit it would be sad.  My tan line stops right at the shorts and socks mark and there is a Garmin line on my wrist.   Someone likes to run...
30 minutes after I took the picture above I was on my way back to the apartment and took this picture:
Hello DARK!!  So glad I was on the main road with all the street lamps but I realize that outside runs during pilot timeout are a done deal until the spring. Bum hair!  Going to have to hit the treadmill next time. Later, around 11pm, we were called on a flight.  We were so fast that the pilot was a little flustered and I ended up with all the bags around me.  This picture doesn't give it justice at all..but there was about 4 work bags and 2 helmet bags around me.  Patient did great - and that is what is important!!

After all the patient care was done we took a cab to the hangar to take the plane back to the Rock.  We are in the loaner plane and both of our planes are in the SLC Hangar.  You can't see, but the 399 engine was taken apart for maintenance.  Both planes are now painted like Clifford the big red dog!!  If you see it, wave!

Didn't get to bed until 4 am.  I'm off work now, until 10pm tonight, but I had to work until noon with meetings.  I just need to take a nap, but I'd like some chocolate too.   I don't want to go to the store..guess I'll take a nap.  Such life decisions EVERY DAY!!  I'm not even sure I used proper grammar in this post, and I still have a weekend post in the works.  Damn pictures.  I can never get them to post in the order I want and one is upside down and I can't get it to download onto my blog the right side up.

How do I go on??  Teehee

Awkwardly Funny

Today I started a fire in the parking lot of one of our local reservoirs, helped to put up a "three" man tent and ate delicious Carne Asada.  I was paid.  Don't hate.  Love my job.

Conversation that I had that totally made me laugh - this is the Awkwardly Funny part.

Picture this:  Me and another employee, let's say he's male, standing by the reservoir, enjoying the nice weather and not too hot sun.

Me: I wish I knew the trails better.  I'd love to run in the mountains, but I run alone and don't want to take off in the wilderness.  (meaning: I always get lost)

He: Do you have a fanny pack?

Me:  NO!  (aghast at the thought of wearing a fanny pack, willy nilly)

He:  Oh, you should get a gun.

Me:  I've shot one gun and it didn't go well.

He:  I think all women should carry a gun 24/7.

Me:  I would be more harm to myself.

He:  They have a class for women, it's only 40 dollars.

Bahahaha
I absolutely love this co-worker, and now I love him more.  He made me laugh.  All women carrying guns?  Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue??  I'd probably shoot someone every 30 days if you get my drift.  SO funny how it went from zero to "you should pack" in 2 sentences. I have no interest in guns....I shrug.  Fanny packs bring up more emotion in me then the gun control issue.  I don't have a problem with the whole concealed permit and people carrying guns.  I would like the option of being around the gun though.  When family would come in to the hospital to visit and I was taking care of their loved one, I didn't feel comfortable with a gun in my work space.  Unless of course it was accompanied by a boot wearing, tight uniformed SWAT team member.  I would also like the permits pulled from anyone that does anything that is obviously and dangerously stupid.  One chance stance.  You did this - your an idiot - give me your permit.  (I.E. pull a gun on two dogs fighting in the middle of a dog park that is surrounded by a children's park with kids playing)

This post is not meant to have ANY for or against gun control vibe, the conversation was a giggler.

Long Slow Run

After a weekend of drinking and catching fish - I had a long run on the calendar this morning.  Last time I got out for my long run the heat cut it short.  Today I was out the door at 630am.  Matt joined me for the first 3 miles and then I took off to finish the rest.

Before the run I ate a banana and had my Click protein shake - mocha flavor.  Delish and it has caffeine in it.  During the run I ate a few of my Jelly Belly energy beans and then at mile 7ish I stopped at a park and gagged down a mocha/caffeine goo.  I liked being at a park with a water fountain so I can wipe off my mouth and fingers. I can't manage to eat a goo without getting sticky somewhere. I also had a salt pill at mile 10.  Not sure if it helps, but I thought I would try it.  I stopped at mile 4 and 10 to pee.  I hustled into a couple of gas stations at miles 4 and 11 to fill my water bottle up with ice. I also popped a few of the energy beans along the way.

It was a great a great run that took me all the way to Liberty park and back, I even ran the hills coming back home.

My foot started hurting a little more going downhill.  I knew I would irritate it on this long run especially after wearing river sandals for 2 days straight.  I did keep it taped the whole weekend and for the run.  Now it's up and icing - I started right after I took off my shoe.  I also took an ibuprofen.

Hoping my foot makes it!  Haha.  I know it will.  I just hate that it hurts so much.  Thought about an ice bath - but my tub is dirty and I don't want to clean it.  My bad!
Good news - Last long run before my half marathon AND the longest I've ever ran!  I also have a massage in a few hours.  YIPPEE!!

Ow ow owwie.  Complete with my compression sleeves.  Love them.

My friend Rachel is in town and came to get my dog.

My attempt at getting a picture of Rachel and Ted.  Ted loves Rachel more then anything..I mean ANYTHING!!  We couldn't get him to sit next to her.  He would flop around, lick her, talk.
Maybe next time I'll wait until she tires him out on a walk.

Look at that adoration
When I said, "TED" to try to get him to sit up he smiled like he was doing something wrong.

At least Rachel looks cute.  I miss her!  She's all grown up and traveling around, learning and experiencing.  So cool!  The other dog by Rachel is Zoe.  She is pretty smart.  Hates her picture taken, but loves sitting with Rachel.  Ted could learn something.

Later:  I'm blogging about two gals fishing on the green river with their husbands and 2 guides.  Broads with rods my friends.  We were trout slayers!
