Let's just say, don't ask me to do something and be surprised when I do it and take it the extra mile! Haha. Today started out on the road. Van 2 started at 1230 am for a night of running. My leg was 8.3 miles but ended up being 8.75. About 15 runners stayed right as indicated on the sign but what the sign meant to say is turn right and bear a slight left.
I still made it in my time allotted with an average 10:12 min/miles. Course was slightly up hill until mile 6 plus extras. My goal was 10:30 min/miles so I can make it through all the legs and over 21 miles total. Having a blast!! Love my team, these girls & guys are fantastic!
Plus, we bought a cowbell. More cowbell!!
Ashley trying to run without arms, eating takeout from hooters, hot showers, new boyfriends, counting deuces, 15 point Uturns and giggles galore!
How was your night??
It was a blog about running. Now it’s just a place to put my thoughts on my grandson (he’s perfect), being a flight nurse (yippee!), traveling and running. Hoping to throw down a 50 miler ultra before I’m too old.

Day drive.
We are slow. Stop for breakfast, Trader Joes, gas, gas, gas, pee. Slowed down to watch a car blow up. Thanks for taking the wrong exit Ashley!
I'm a WINNER!
I have been looking at these for a couple of months. I thought they would be awesome to have so I didn't have to worry about how many pockets my shorts have. I even got my hands on one at the Top of Utah Half Marathon so I could see if I really wanted. While I was looking at their website I entered their contest and won a free one!
I love to win!
I received this email:
Okay, now with no further ado, this week's RooSport contest winner is....
Kathee, I'll be sending you an email shortly requesting your
shipping information so I can send you your BRAND new, redesigned
RooSport!
Check them out!
It's a magnetic pocket!
I'll definitely write a review when I get it and try it out. I already have many ideas. Carrying my phone when I decide to take it. Keys, goo, Shaka Laka or anything.
If you haven't tried the Shaka Laka Lip Blaka then you better get on it! Both RooSport and Shaka Laka are local, Utah based business's. I always try to support local and small businesses and usually I'm not disappointed.
For now I have to finish painting my purple toes purple for the race!
A couple of years ago at a Superbowl party I won a TV. I'm watching it right now. I think when I get my RooSport i'll watch the TV I won while wearing the magnetic pocket, in honor of winning contests!
THANK YOU RooSport!

Ragnar Napa
I love running relays. If I could find 11 people that had the passion and some discretionary spending money and wanted to do 5-6 a year, I would be after it. I'm sure I've spilled my woes of Captaining a team on here in little snippets but I haven't done much of a full on post about it. I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea - because I LOVE running relays.
I hate being a captain.
I love to organize and put together ideas. I am just OCD enough that I'll spend a day figuring out how far hotels are from the closest major exchange, how long each van will be out running and what would be the best place to go if we needed to crash. I will love EVERY minute of it too. I also enjoy finding, or trying to find, a great deal so that the trip is affordable for everyone. I love thinking of decorations, names and t-shirts.
I hate finding all the runner spots and collecting money. The first race I ran I wasn't the captain and 12 people from the ICU I worked at ran it and committed up front. The second one I had a friend from that race that brought a bunch of her friends and it filled up. The next one, not a captain and I was actually filling in for an injured runner. This race was pretty difficult. Lots of people encouraged me to captain another team so I did, and I shelled out the over 1200.00 to buy the team and then started working to fill it up. There were a few that bailed and a few that just couldn't do it. Then I had the 50 other runner's that just didn't answer or respond to any emails. Pet Peeve alert!
BUT that is over now. I lucked out. I found 2 vans that are going to be full of awesome people. Each person has been kind, generous and grateful for the work I've put into it. I think the secret is, I'll probably get more from it then I ever put into it. New best friends, expanded running circle and an experience that is so unique and challenging that I will never forget it. In the movie "Hood to Coast", Rachel gets in the van after a very challenging middle of the night hill run and she is just beaming! "It was Awesome!" That is what it is, it's awesome. I would guess any person can make their experience what they want it to be. I choose to go for the very best. I know I'll be tired, grumpy, sore, hungry and irritated. I will not become a raging bitch. (YEAH for my team!) I saw a lot of that going on at the Wasatch Ragnar and it made me sad. The smaller relay's tend to have hoards of just crazy happy people. You don't even need booze or drugs (well, ibuprofen)!
All my duties of head honcho are winding down and it's almost go time. I've done it enough now that I'm not nervous about not having the right stuff or forgetting something. I'm confident I can finish my legs and my foot will hurt but won't slow me down too much. I'm pretty sure I'm just as excited to get to know my new friends as I am to get this party started!
I'll definitely be posting updates on my blog, twitter and Facebook. They will probably be from my phone, so they aren't as fancy as I can make them on this here laptop. (totally hilarious, since I'm just not much of an Internet, tech person)

These bottles are going on this van.
My daughter is holding one of the inflatables and standing by the van so that the peeps that haven't experienced the Mystery Machine could get an idea what we are in for.
Lets get this party started!!

He's number one
Happy Birthday to my first son. He turned 24 on July 26th, but our schedules are crazy and we finally went to dinner tonight to celebrate. Watching my kids interact I found myself wishing I was a sibling instead of the mom, but then I'm really glad I'm their mom. They are awesome!!
Jake, 21 and his girlfriend Emily, Sami, 19 and Austin. He was sitting up super straight. Silly kid.
Daniel made it a few minutes late, he's 17 - obviously.
Of course I gave my son running stuff. He has actually done some running and shown an interest in it. Since his job is driving around heavy machinery I'm hoping he gets out and gets some fresh air once in a while.
Of course the shirt matches the shoes.
I love you son!

Rock day 4
So far this day of work has been somewhat uneventful. Once we were sure we had all the meds and equipment we needed then it's been pretty much football, crocheting (I'm crocheting baby stuff for gifts) and eating. I don't have any cashews or dark chocolate so I am feeling a little neglected.
I was browsing running blogs and if you haven't stopped by this blog you should do it and pretty quick:
Shut up & Run
She has the most excellent sense of humor. I've only been reading her for about a month and I love it! I have gathered some great ideas from her blog and enjoy her posts about running and life. Plus she is closer to my age, which I have found is rare in the running blog world. The "in my 40's but still a sexy bitch" time of life. Today's post was about her trail run, classy paperboy and FWP..which are First World Problems.
I actually found a website that has a bunch of FWP's listed and I couldn't stop browsing. I'm sure this is some trend that has been going on that I have totally missed, I seem to always be a day late and a dollar short these last few years.
This is from Pinterest and is a great example of real problems! It is also the same example that I read this morning on Shut up and Run.
My favorite is the "trying to text at a red light" one. I do that all the time. I think I'm awesome for not texting while driving, but I figure if I'm stopped.......
Yeah. That is the way my mind works. That and I know I'm an awesome driver.
Here is the best explanation found at this website:
Although I can't imagine there is such a thing as too much cheese?!?
I don't really have any FWP's today besides the fact I have no cashews or chocolate. It's been a pretty easy going day. Hopefully I will have a flight before too long. Those always make me appreciate the day to day life. Usually if I'm transporting or working then someone is having a very crappy day.
After having made this blog a more running, frequently posted, hopefully informational at times place to share my stories, I have spent a lot of time reading blogs. Blogs that are posting for a purpose besides just life can be pretty entertaining. I know that a lot of blogs ask questions at the end of their post. I've been considering doing that.
What do you think?? <-----see?
Countdown to the Napa Ragnar!! Next Thursday we leave for San Francisco and a visit to Trader Joes! Here is our shirts, on the back we each have the name of a Zinfandel that has a funny name. Mine is Beuhler. Beuhler. Beuhler.
