I’ll take my milk in a saucer please…..

Sometimes I can be catty.  Although I never mean it to be malicious or hurtful, the word catty seems to be perfect.  I’m usually catty in my head or to a trusted friend.  Why does it feel good to hang out with a great friend and freely speak your mind about those around you? (sorry if you thought I was perfect, it's an easy mistake)

Today’s catty thought was in my head.  There was a lady in my TRX class that was talking to the instructor and complaining about the price of classes.  First of all, the rent was raised at our studio and secondly, the prices are not only fair but probably the cheapest in town.   In my head I said to the lady: “You are wearing a full Lululemon outfit so you obviously can afford something nice to wear, next time don’t buy the outfit and you can buy at least 5 classes……and your hair color and cut is crappy”
In my outside voice I said, “The classes are still a very good deal”
True. Personal. control.

This made me giggle!
This was too funny not to add!   Shake! Shake!  Shake!

Speaking of speaking our minds, I tend to speak mine (which is not to be confused with being catty).  In the last year I have had two experiences where speaking my mind led to a person/friend to just stop.  It’s hard to describe what they stop doing.  Stop interacting with me in a friendlier manner, is the best way to describe it.    Weird.  Because these people (2 of them) seemed to embrace and enjoy my more outspoken personality but then I said something they didn’t like and BOOM.  Or did I?  I have no idea exactly what happened. Shutdown.  There was no conversation.

“HEY, we are having a confrontation here!” was a line I heard today on one of my audio books.  Perfect.  I feel like I am left standing alone, being robbed of the other half of the conversation.  I am perfectly happy to listen to someone tell me how they think it is or how I am wrong.  I can admit I am wrong.  I tend to talk before I can think and I've mastered the art of apology.

I don’t want to really talk about either of the people or the situations (I do and I have but not in this venue) because I know there is always 2 – 3 sides to a story.  I do know that I have been asked, “what happened?” and I am left with, “I have no idea!”  I guess if I've learned one thing from my perfectly loving parents is that it’s just not worth making a deal out of it and forgiveness is best.
I will just skip along………….

On the bright side!  My TRX class was uber awesome and I had my butt handed to me by my instructor.  I did every exercise he wanted us to do and if you've ever taken a kick ass TRX class then you can appreciate what a success that is.
I think my delt’s are even stronger!!
Plus I got to smell and smooch this little head tonight:

My niece:  Lisette.  Daughter of my brother Dave.  She is scrumptious.

AAAaarrrrggggghhhhh

I keep telling myself that I will keep my thoughts on organized religion off my blog.  I'm now chanting it in my head.  I guess when I say organized religion, I mean the Mormon church.  I wasn't a member of any other church so I can't say much about the others.

I will keep it brief, even though I'm pretty sure my parents never ever see my blog. There is critical genealogy to do ya know!

I endorse the freedom to choose.  It's what makes us who we are.  I also endorse consequences for those choices either good or bad.  I just hate the guilt.   The GUILT!!!  Do this or you will never ever see your family after you die!!!!  What does that mean exactly?  It means that you should feel horrid for not throwing your life into your religion at the cost of your family and basic common sense.

Yeah, I grew up Mormon, married in the temple and all that.  Somewhere in my 30's I was thinking to myself, "Self, what does your religion mean, exactly?".  I couldn't come up with anything good.  When I asked trusted people around me, I didn't get any satisfying answers.  When I questioned specific practices, I was told, "We don't question those things".  WHAT???
The last straw was being ex-communicated by some hard-ass cop/bishop that thought he knew the skinny on my life but was just being led down a path of deceit by a woman that would later go to jail for abusing foster children.

 BOOYAH!
It took years for Karma to swing around and vindicate me, but it happened and it happened sweet.  I took the high road and didn't give her rumors any justification by trying to "right" it all.

But that is beside the point.  That was the end.  It was a couple of years of soul searching before that situation  which became the last hammer fall that made the nail square on the coffin of religion.  And to give my ex-husband a little high-five here (he doesn't get many), he was totally accepting of my feelings about religion.  If I didn't want to do it anymore he was OK with that.  Although the divorce and ex-communication happened the same summer, they weren't related.

I've never been happier.  I feel that I have raised my kids with a strong right and wrong.  I have taken away the guilt and given them ownership of their actions.  Karma is a bitch and they know that they better fill up their Karma bank with good actions and truth in their voice.  They have an open mindedness about love and life that I never had the pleasure of having until I was an adult.

I have read some stories of people that leave the church and become very bitter and hateful.  Over time I can see how that can happen. It's like seeing the grass is greener on your side and you can't get anyone to come over for a drink.  When I start to become bitter, I really try to break it down to what I am bitter about.  It usually isn't about the religion itself but about the experiences I had in that religion that were bad.  Then I try to think about something good and it evens out.  Some remember the good in experiences and some remember the bad.  I try to think of both sides so I don't spin out of control.

On that note, my entire family is still very religious and active.  Most accept me for who I am as a daughter and sister and some are just crazy.  People can grasp onto religion and that is who they are and they are happiest in that place.  I can appreciate that and even support it.  But I have a blog and that is my AAARrrggggghhhhhh of the day.

Follow up to "Chaps my ass" installment 2

After a few more harassing messages the insurance company actually sent me a letter.  Come to find out the insurance company that was calling me is the parent company of Allied.  Apparently there is a part of our auto insurance that gives us our own "personal injury" money.  I'm still super chapped and absolutely do not understand that.  It seems there is plenty of laws and bi-laws of our policy to cover all expenses if we were in a car accident with an uninsured driver.  Now we have the option to file a claim with ourselves for personal injury.
Classic.

Chaps my Ass!

I believe this is only my second installment of the "chaps my ass" subject.  If you know me you will be shocked and amazed that with a couple of years worth of blogs I've only had my ass chapped once.  I assure you, it's been positively raw, I just haven't written about it.

Last September Daniel had the unfortunate experience of being hit by a car.  He was crossing the road to go to Highland High and the driver of a black BMW didn't see him.  He did hit the ground, but he didn't hit his head.  Instead he quickly stood up, stated he was OK and walked into the school.  Apparently a couple of drivers stopped, including the BMW driver.

Then he calls me and I figure he's talking on the phone so it can't be that bad and he tells me he'll just stay at school.  Thirty minutes later he calls me and states that he is sore and his knee hurts.  I pick him up, take him to the ER and later we find out he is just fine, just bruised.

We never did have the driver of the BMW's name.  FOR THE LOVE OF PETE!!!  The insurance companies when nutso and I had to explain why we didn't have the name/license plate to at least 4000 people.  If anything, get the name and license to cut through the red tape.

Long story getting longer, my health insurance wouldn't pay for it because it was involving a car (crazy Utah laws) and so after 4 months it was handed to our Auto insurance, ALLIED, and they are doing a fine job.  They keep me informed and everyone involved has been kind and helpful.  I swear the amount of time doing paperwork has cost everyone twice as much as the original bill.

Now this is the part that chafes....
I get a voicemail today after work from an insurance agency that states that we have a possible "bodily injury" settlement through their company if we would like.  Mother of all that is EVIL!  Really?  This insurance agency has nothing to do with any of our insurance and they are encouraging us to sue.  REALLY?  It was an accident.  Do you really have to encourage people to expect free money?? He was out of school one day and has no residual problems, except the hole in his new hoodie.

This, my friends, is the reason why health care is through the roof and the US is going to hell in a hand basket.  We should really stop insurance companies from soliciting victims to pursue litigation just because they can.

I'm not running for office, ever.

I don't watch national news either, so any thoughts, opinions or subjects that are similar in nature are completely coincidence and do not reflect my personal or political views.
