It's my blog and I'll swear if I want to...

Not really, I don't have anything to swear about.  I'm not talking about the big ones, just the easy slips....

I have so many great ideas for blogging and I'm a little sad that I'll never post them.  OK, I may post some, but this is my journal of sorts and this summer has proved I'm not in the mood to write in my journal.  For a little bit I thought that maybe I was a little depressed (Low in spirits, dejected).  Then I thought I was just apathetic (Feeling or showing a lack of interest or concern; indifferent).  I think it's a combination of being lazy and just not caring too much.

Exactly.

Not sure where it comes from but probably a mix of picking up another job, the divorce, more responsibilities and i love being able to spend time just doing nothing.

But I have been running.  I ran 10 miles on the trail last week and 8 miles today.
Why I run in the mountains.  This was my turnaround point.

Great trails and nice and cool.

I love taking pictures of awesome trails.  Especially going downhill.

My camelbak is smaller so I threw on my RooSport so I would have more storage for the longer run.

I've also FINALLY set aside time to work on my office.  I gave up trying to cut in the entire room so I taped.  But then I forgot to prime over the ceiling paint that got on the walls.  Let's just say I had some touching up to do around the top.

Getting stuff together.

Taping, taping, taping.  Prepping takes FOREVER!

Three walls done.

 The accent wall.
It was left over from my son's room.  I really love the colors.
It doesn't have primer in it like the tan color.  I wish I would have noticed that before I did two coats.

This mornings run.
It has been very humid for Utah.  I'm getting use to the insane sweating I do when I run. I need to put together a better training schedule but I'm sure enjoying the runs I get done.

Other things that have happened.
My parents came over for dinner.  It was Austins birthday and he was going to go out of town.  So nice to have the parents over.  I don't think I have ever seen my dad without his calendar and pen in his pocket.  Ever.

Ran the Epic Relay.
Met some great people.
Had a really good time!

Took my first ice bath with an entire bag of ice.
It was after my 10 mile trail run.
Check out the ankle tan lines and the dirty feet.  Bad ass huh?

Work, work, work.
This was on my way for team pictures.
Just so you know, my flight suit is really black.  Even with minimal clothing underneath I think I lose a little bit of my soul every time I have to be outside in it during this oppressive humid heat.
OR..I could be exaggerating.
It's just hot!

So that's whats happening.
Hoping to get back in the groove but not certain I will.

I do Instagram every day and sometimes it's even entertaining!

Buddahkat is a nickname/username from about 15 years ago.  It is derived from Saturday Night Live and "Coffee Talk".....Mike Myers.  When he says, "Like buddah" meaning smooth, like butter.  It has nothing to do with Buddha.

When you feel like doing nothing, do you feel depressed, lazy or just unmotivated?

Trail running, love it? hate it?

No Running

It's killing me!  Even my husband asked me today if I wanted to do a run with him.  Very rare occurrence.  But I want to save any nerve aggravation for Sunday.  On the bright side I'm getting some projects done around the house that have been nagging at me.

While I was cleaning up this morning I noticed this note.  "Please, hand wash ALL spatulas after use.  We don't have enough to keep them in the dishwasher"

Hmmmm....this was my SON's note.  My 17 year old son.  He's really good about cleaning the kitchen after he uses it.  Yeah, right. He should be careful writing on compliance & ethics sticky notes.

He is good at wearing a Cosby Sweater and holding my cup of coffee while contemplating his day.  #hehateshashtags

If those sweaters are coming back in style then it will be just a few more months and my basement full of cheap "wood" paneling will be featured in Home Decor Magazine.  I better vacuum the cobwebs.

While I was searching for the cord/pedal for my sewing machine (GASP!!) I noticed how many Saucony boxes I had.  This is from the box stash I started in June.  My bad.
#Saucony
My son has never looked at my blog and yet I mock him on it.  I'm available for parenting workshops.

Here is something a little RUN-ish.  The taping was really hurting in some spots so after I finished sewing and ironing (quota for the next 5 years) I decided to investigate.
I found a piece of tape that was on my tender OLD skin that had actually caused a skin tear.  What the hell?  No toenails and now a skin tear?  I should be getting the senior discount at Village Inn with that on my resume.
I took off all the taping.

I even went grocery shopping and started laundry which means my technical/running clothes are hung up all over the bathroom and hall.
I'm exhausted from all this domesticity.
Wine to go I bought in Colorado Springs.  You can chill it, take the plastic top off and remove the foil, and it's ready to drink.  The glass is plastic and it's great for traveling.  Good idea!!  I drank about half.  Wine wasn't bad, I just wasn't in the mood.  Which is a weird mood to be in.

PS. I found the pedal/cord in a completely different room then the sewing machine.  Well that makes sense!

Does your family mock you for your participation in social media aka #twitter?
Not just my family.  Just about everyone.  Everyone except those who "get" me.

How do you care for your technical clothes?
I machine wash in cold  with mild detergent and hang to dry.

If you could tease your teenage son every day with #hashtags, would you?
Until I loose interest.  Then I'll remember in a month or so and bring it up again.  I would NEVER  EVER and I repeat EVER try this with my teenage daughter.  There could be a change in the atmosphere with her self implosion and accompanying drama.

Foot update!

Teaser!
Yes I do have an injury update.  Before I get to that, I did drag myself this morning (thank you Zofran!) to staff meeting.  During the meeting we were able to get a sneak peak at our new flying machine.  EC-145 please.

It's rear loading and so there is a crazy amount of room for a medical helicopter.  I am taking the picture at the bottom from the open back.  That is Tony in the seat, buckling himself in to see if he'll fit.  This is the Rotor that will be based at the U and when I start flying rotor (a couple of months) then I will get the opportunity to play big girl nurse in it.  Word.

Podiatrist bound I was!  I realized as I took off my sock that all the nail polish had worn off on all but one toe nail.  Then there are 3 that are missing and one purple toenail.  HAWT!!!  Plus I have very long narrow feet.  LOOONNNNGGG!!
Lots and lots of discussion.  Dr. Preece checked for problems behind my knee that could contribute to nerve pain and he checked my flexibility, asked about my back.  We went over where the pain is (nerve pain is tricky) and where the numbness is.  I thought to myself, "do podiatrist even like feet?".  Because lets be honest - they aren't looking at great feet....ever.
I digress.  SO...because he could not illicit (dirty!) any pain or hot spots then he's not really worried about the nerve pain causing permanent damage.  I've just pissed it off a little and when I run or do a lot of activities then it just goes ballistic.  In order to have some sort of Nerve Pain study, the nerve pain needs to be able to be duplicated.  SO..if I want to run 10 miles and run my way right into the hospital for the study that would be an option.  I think I'm going for a little less intervention at this time.  We talked about a higher heel drop in my shoe and how the mechanics of that may help both nerve and PF pain.  He looked at my inserts again, with admiration (thank you Dr. Lowe - they are magic) and we decided to pass on giving the inserts a lift.  Thank goodness I bought a sweet pair of Asics (Sorry Saucony!!) that have a 10 mm heel drop!!

He taped my foot and gave me some of the supplies to do it myself.  With the plantar fasciitis pain and the nerve pain it's hard to tell if it helps or not at this point.

It was a long discussion about healing, causes, interventions and lots of stuff that I won't bore you with.  I will continue icing, massage and ibuprofen.  I will probably pass on the compression sock that I bought for PF pain. I found that if I wear it too long then my foot starts to REALLY hurt around the edges.  Makes me wonder if that contributed to the nerve pain.  Who knows?  Medicine is a mystery.  At least I didn't get a shot.

Then I tried to clean my room.
Actually I just shuffled shit around and took out the trash.  Isn't that what cleaning is?

What heel drop does your favorite shoe have or does it even matter to you?

Some of my problems started when I went to a 3mm heel drop.  I've worked my way up to an 8mm and will run with that and higher until my foot heals and I can strengthen it enough to go back to my 3mm.  I really like them.

Are you a hoarder, shuffler or tosser?
(Don't be disgusting, I'm talking about your house and when you clean it!)

I'm all.  I shuffle things around and hoard stupid stuff and then I get sick of it and toss it all.  I usually do that about 2 weeks before I need whatever I threw away.

How many toenails do you have?

Honestly it's hard to tell.  I have some partials and I lost another one this weekend.  Not because of new injury I just didn't notice it was loose and boom, off it came.  I would say about 5.5 toenails right now.

Audrey 3 update

We have fruit!

Our errant magic pumpkin plant is finally growing fruit.  I think it actually slowed down the plant part too.  We have it stringing across the top of our patio now, thinking it would go all the way across and down the other side, but we will see.

See HERE.

Little big bigger then a baseball.

This is the concerning one.   Just as you walk out the front door - tada!!
It would make all the sense in the world to cut it down, but why?  Who else has a pumpkin growing from the ceiling on their porch?
This is the view as you walk out the door.  Last night my husband slung a net around it while it was small to prevent any cracks in the stem.  That is a bungie cord that I snapped onto our porch hooks and the vine is growing around it.  I had no idea pumpkin plants were this tenacious.

I'm really hoping that one day that pumpkin does NOT knock on the door and yell, "FEED ME"!

Little Shop of Horrors

This plant, which shall now be known as Audrey 3 is what we have guessed is a pumpkin plant. I have mentioned her briefly in a previous post. Matt and I have no idea why three pumpkin plants started growing in our front yard flower bed. We don't carve pumpkins at Halloween and have no idea where the seeds came from.

I can be a little eccentric at times and I wanted to ride this out. Of course Matt, the linear thinker, is insistent that we keep them trimmed up. Plants aren't suppose to touch concrete or house!! (and I'M the OCD one!)

There is no fruit yet but lots of "male" flower buds. It grows a foot a day and I need to figure out a place for it to go.

I'm enjoying watching it. See where this high risk crazy behavior takes us!

Go Audrey 3!!

Day in pictures

Lots of watching TV, surfing the web and reading.

New Faucet installed by Matt.  I think the next thing is a new kitchen window.  It's a slow process, replacing old windows.

Our delicious local grown Pork.  Pork chops tonight for dinner.
Ended with watching "21 Jump Street" with Matt.
Lazy day.
Good day.

Tall gal over a little fence.

Said in your best Chris Farley, "Fat man in a little coat" impersonation.

Thank you Sami for taking my picture at my finest. I'm wearing CROCS for hecks sake!!

I'm weeding a small portion of our back yard that has some melons growing. We put up a tiny fence and it keeps Ted out.  Zoe can squeeze her fat ass in, but I think she's too lazy for melons.  If it was tomatoes she'd be snacking on them right now!   It's horribly inundated with weeds and this was the third area that I weeded.  I filled up that orange home depot bucket about 5 times.

I didn't fly last night and had a great night sleep, so I feel accomplished.  I was exhausted after 2 hours in the heat and the great positions you have to get in to weed.  Sit on my butt, then switch to the "doggy style" gardening. Back to my butt.

One thing that is terrific; gardening is a very therapeutic activity, a good workout and makes your house look good.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Now to prepare for tomorrows 5K.  PR to break is 27:55.  It's a hot hot day, so who knows!!??

Hoarders!

HOARDERS!!!
OK, we are not turning into hoarders, but unless you know us, you would be hard pressed to believe it!!

Here is the progress we have made in Sami's room. The sump pump is in, concrete back down and the walls back up - thanks to Matt with some help from Daniel and Austin! We also had some great help from John Q. - our favorite contractor and buddy!

Daniels room. Just a little sanding then we start on the priming and painting. The carpet goes back down in about 8 - 10 days.

Looks hoarderish, eh?? This is the view into our basement "kitchenette". The carpet is stacked up in rolls and Daniel's bed is leaned up against it.

Sami's temporary room. (Yeah, she is handing me a bowl of rice she doesn't want any more of, so I can take it up to the kitchen) I didn't get all my storage organized before the flood and we pushed everything out to the sides and threw down her mattresses. We were hoping to get them back into their rooms before school, but it's just not going to happen.

This is Daniel's temporary room. He's just piled all his clothes around him. Behind the couch is some curtains and on the other side of the curtains in where Sami is staying. It's tenuous at best, they get into a few tiff's here and there.

The hard work is paying off and the condo is almost painted and I plan to have the kids rooms painted before we leave for San Francisco. I am hoping to keep the crazy painting pace and finally get the bathrooms painted and the master bedroom. We might as well finish it off, eh? I think both Matt and I are over all the work and Home Depot runs. Especially Matt. He is putting in a lot more time and sweat then I am. I am excited about what we have done to the condo and know that in the end it's the best thing. Don't believe anyone that says - "all you need is a fresh coat of paint". Our fresh coat of paint turned into about 10 gallons! Thanks to my kids for helping out (for 10 bucks an hour!) I will get more pics up when I get them downloaded. We are taking lots of pics!!

Time

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted a blog! Matt and I have both been quite busy. Every couple of years Matt has to travel a lot to do audits for his job, so he has been traveling A LOT! With Matt gone I have had to scramble to get my kids to and from their stuff and I wonder how I was ever a single mom! We also have several projects going. Matt and our friend John are building a sweet storage shed in the backyard and we are trying to update a few things in the house. We purchased a new king bed frame with headboard AND foot board. Hoity Toity! Feelin like the rich and famous. We also got all new dressers....see pic below.......we haven't put them together yet. I LOVE Ikea, but I'm not sure Matt does. Quite a project of boxes, eh?

He's so hot!

We are also starting a couple months of traveling. We just came home from Santa Cruz where Matt worked and I went with him so we can spend time together. It was fun and I absolutely loved Santa Cruz. We are off to Minneapolis in a couple of weeks so that Matt can attend a conference and I can do my usual hanging out reading, running, etc. After that we head out to New York with Sami and Daniel to be in the land of heaven!! We are seeing a show and going to a Giants football game. We will round out our four trips of fun with a trip to Idaho to my families cabin for Thanksgiving. Whew!! I have pics and plenty of fun pics to post from the last month, including a summary of life on the boat this last summer!
