Most Excellent

Yesterday I was able to pick up an OT Rotor shift.

We sat around and I did some studying and I was chillaxin on the recliner when BOOM...we got a scene call!

The entire way there and while trying to land my heart was racing!  I really wanted this but I was so nervous.  My medic was great and I had prepared myself for this day for months.  Luckily while in the helicopter I have to concentrate on looking out, safety and landing, so I didn't have time to get too scared.

Well the call happened and I was able to use some skills that I had been practicing and studying but had never used in that setting.

Picture of the GlideScope that morning during our morning equipment check. It is a visual laryngoscope so we see on the screen where to put the breathing tube instead of cranking the mouth open and trying to look inside.   I went through our scene bag just to make sure I knew where stuff was.

The pilot took this picture while we were working on the patient.

We finished the call and I think we did pretty darn great.

When I got home late, not even a dog met me at the door. I found them downstairs sleeping with Daniel.  Even when I went down there and kissed Daniel good night they stayed there.

Needless to say all that adrenaline took it's toll on me the next day.
Exhausted.

I still managed to get up and get going.   It was my last day in the gym walking on the treadmill.  I walked a very brisk 1 mile with no pain!  Yippee!

After I went to REI (sports store) and found a new flavor of NUUN.

Watermelon.  NUM!

One of my pilates teachers showed my some band exercises I could do with my foot and I've been trying to do them every day to get my foot and ankle strong. I really like working out with.

I am giving my foot every chance to get me running again.
I've come up with a running plan and hope that I will be running an hour within 5-6 weeks.

Maybe this will even becoming a REAL running blog again!

Do you like working out with bands?

How do you find your best training or rehab plans?

Yep, it's a random day of pics with a little TMI.

Running today.  Five miles on the treadmill, 3 miles at half marathon pace.  The workout was good.
Went to run at the gym.  I grabbed a bottle of water from the freezer and since I hate the all the condensation I threw on one of my hand crocheted cozy's.
Was able to get my favorite locker at the gym....tee hee.
Showing off my new purple Lululemon shorts.  I really really like them.  Even though I'm a little bloated from yesterdays Hot Mess, they are really comfortable.  I am surprised how nice the back is, seems just a bit longer for coverage.  Good thing, since the price is a tear jerker.  They are the Turbo Shorts.

They are for running.  I had to go home and change so I could go to yoga.  Again, this exercise thing is confusing.  But we all know we can't wear running clothes to Yoga.  These shorts have a zipper on the back and that is PAINFUL during Yoga or Pilates.

Dinner with two of my munchkins.  A delicious sushi dinner.  It was nice to spend some time with them before I leave for work tomorrow.
Word.

Here comes the TMI.

I have some bills I really want to get paid off.  I've been chipping away at them for the last 3 years and have made minimal progress.  I have decided to really set my mind to getting them out of my life. Working overtime is helping but i've had to make some additional sacrifices.  One of them is the ...umm....waxing sacrifice.  So I bought my own sugar wax and did it myself.  I'm feeling pretty successful!  The strips are washable and this is where they were this morning, drying.   I've also looked into dying my own hair.  I can't quite commit to that yet, so I'm sporting the grey look.  Keeping up this old body is exhausting!!

So, I was in the jacuzzi....

Friday I had a huge day at work and I was exhausted. My hips ached like they were going to fall off. I think I'm getting old.

Saturday I decided to go to the gym and do some stretching and maybe ride the bike for 30 minutes. It was suggested that I spend some time in the gym jacuzzi. The amount of chlorine at least makes me feel like I'm somewhat safe.

I didn't count on the creepers.

How AWKWARD to sit in a jacuzzi with 4 total strangers. Then I realized the two old men in the far corners were sure there a long time. THEN an older gentleman came out to get in with the shortest, loosest swimsuit I have ever seen. I made the huge mistake of glancing his way as he bent over at the water fountain to get a drink. You guessed it! Nothing like a little old man nut sack to add to the already pristine ambiance. Then I hoped no one saw me look and I started smiling and almost laughing. This is the first time I wished there was someone with me at the gym to share my person hell.

I don't regret it, but next time I want to make sure the creepers in the corner are taking a break and unwrinkling their skin!
